Supporting Partner - BAFTA Breakthrough UK, USA & India

Netflix is the main supporting partner for BAFTA’s flagship new talent scheme: BAFTA Breakthrough, which showcases and supports the next generation of creative talent across Film, Games and Television.  In 2020, BAFTA and Netflix expanded the initiative globally, working to identify overseas talent in new territories such as India and the USA.  Netflix shares BAFTA’s vision to celebrate and provide opportunities for emerging talent in Film, Games and Television.  Expanding BAFTA Breakthrough globally will enable creative and cultural exchange and form an international community of talented newcomers who will benefit from a bespoke programme of mentoring and career development.

Since its launch in 2013, BAFTA Breakthrough has championed over 100 talented newcomers, including actors Letitia Wright, Florence Pugh, Abubakar Salim, Josh O’Connor, Niamh Algar and Jessie Buckley, composer Segun Akinola, game producer Dan Gray, producer Jen Kenwood, production designer Luke Hull, screenwriter Laurie Nunn, writers and actors Charlie and Daisy-May Cooper and directors Destiny Ekaragha and Michael Pearce. Previous Breakthroughs have gone on to flourish within their respective disciplines, many becoming BAFTA winners and nominees.
