PHIL LORD: Gosh, guys.
Thank you, BAFTA, for all you do for emerging filmmakers.
Thank you, Wes and Brad, your films inspire us.
We share this with 800 other filmmakers and maniacs who worked really hard to try and break new ground and take animation in new directions all because we wanted to make a movie that was worthy of Miles Morales and his family.
I hope this encourages other people to do the same. Animation is not a genre; it is a medium, and that medium is film.

PETER RAMSEY: We wanted to make a movie that made people feel seen. I think all of us have had the experience of parents telling us about their children seeing themselves up on the screen when they see Miles, saying "Ah, he speaks Spanish just like me", or, "I can be just like her."
You know, Stanley created a great idea and it showed all of us that you can be powerful and we're all counting on you. That's the spirit of our movie, and we just want to thank you for honouring it with this award.
