  • Studio Sustainability Standard launched to help studios measure and reduce the environmental impact of their facilities
  • Global standard designed by TV and film sustainability organisation, albert and technical partner, Arup alongside a working group of leading studios, producers and trade bodies.

BAFTA albert launches revamped production carbon calculator and certification toolkit

  • New toolkit is unveiled as albert celebrates its 10th year 
  • The updated calculator will help productions to more accurately measure their carbon footprints and compare their production’s impact to the rest of the industry 
  • Updated toolkit will also be rolled out to International partners in local languages 
  • The updated toolkit follows the launch of Creative Offsets – a further step towards helping the industry hit its net zero goal. 

Broadcasters collaborate at COP26 to show the power of television to inspire climate action

-         An inspiring programme of events is planned by BBC, C4, ITV, SKY and STV with BAFTA’s albert, alongside sustainability partner Natural Capital Partners.

-         Events will showcase the UK broadcasters’ radical collaboration in sustainability through albert both on and off screen, for the past decade.

-         Events will be live streamed for a wider audience.

BAFTA albert releases its third ‘Subtitles to Save The World’ report

  • albert releases its third ‘Subtitles to Save the World’ report looking at how often climate change and our solutions to tackling it were mentioned on our TV screens in 2020. 
  • Climate change mentions have decreased slightly since 2019 during a turbulent year which reflects the impact of lockdown on both the TV production industry and wider society. 
  • Words associated with positive individual actions have increased but there are fewer associated with the systemic change needed to help us reach net zero.
