Sports broadcasting legend Hazel Irvine, and the casting director behind Top Boy, Des Hamilton, will receive BAFTA Special Awards at the BAFTA Scotland Awards ceremony on Sunday 17 November. 

The BAFTA Scotland Audience Award for Favourite Scot on Screen in partnership with Screen Scotland, is the only category voted for by the public.

BAFTA Scotland today announces the nominations for the annual BAFTA Scotland Awards, honouring creative excellence in broadcasting and production across film and television in Scotland.

• Lynda Myles to be presented with BAFTA Scotland Award for Outstanding Contribution to Film at a special event on Monday 19 August
• Myles was the first woman to ever be appointed as a film festival director anywhere in the world when she was made Director of Edinburgh International Film Festival in 1973
• She went on to win a BAFTA as a producer for The Commitments, which was awarded in 1992

• Aftersun is the most awarded film, receiving three trophies (Director Fiction, Writer Film/Television, Actor Film) 
   
• Lauren Lyle received two awards for her performance in Karen Pirie (Actress Television, Audience Award) 
   
• A strong year for debut feature films, with Aftersun, Winners, Blue Jean and My Old School are all picking up awards.

• BAFTA Scotland announces actress Shirley Henderson and sound engineer Stuart Wilson as the recipients of the Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television, and Outstanding Contribution to Craft (In Memory of Robert McCann) Awards for 2023
• Henderson is a two time BAFTA Scotland Award winner, who is well known for her appearances in projects like Harry Potter, Trainspotting, Bridget Jones' Diary and Happy Valley
• Wilson is a BAFTA and Oscar winner for his work on 1917 - with work ranging from major studio franchises such as Star Wars and James Bond to British classics like 24 Hour Party People and Morvern Callar
• Henderson and Wilson will be presented with their Awards at the BAFTA Scotland Awards ceremony on Sunday 19 November

Monday 16 October 2023, Glasgow: Today, BAFTA Scotland announces the six nominees for the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award, in partnership with Screen Scotland.

Nominees including Biffy Clyro, Brian Cox, Caitríona Balfe, Dougray Scott, Izuka Hoyle, Jack Docherty, Jack Lowden, Mark Bonnar, Marli Siu, Ncuti Gatwa, Phyllis Logan, Sam Heughan and Yong-chin Breslin are amongst the names confirmed to be attending the BAFTA Scotland Awards this Sunday. 

They will be joined by this years' Outstanding Contribution recipient Peter Capaldi, as well as a host of guest presenters including Armando Iannucci, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell, Kate Dickie and Sharon Rooney.
