HUNTER FOUNDATION | BAFTA SCHOLAR 2020
Yvonne specialized in video and photography during her Fine Art foundation at Central Saint Martins, London, before going on to study English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. In 2018, her short CHINA PANDA was selected for development through SFTN’s Scottish Shorts program and shortlisted for funding by the BFI Network and Creative Scotland. Her multi-channel collaboration, BETTER RAINFALL, was selected for solo exhibition as part of the Intermedia Gallery 2019/20 programme at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow.
Yvonne is a Directing Fellow at the AFI Conservatory, with funding and support from BAFTA Los Angeles, Fulbright, AAUW, P.E.O. International and AFI. Her stories focus on the lives of diaspora communities, exploring the ways in which race and migration shape identity, belonging and power. Her work often treads the line between social realism, visual poetry and surreality.
