Awards Officer, Games

  • Reports to: Head of TV and Games
  • Contract Type: Permanent, part time (2-3 days per week)
  • Job Location: London
  • Date of Interviews: week commencing 6 April 2015
  • Start date: 11 May 2015
  • Salary: Salary Band D (circa £29,000)
  • Job Purpose: The Awards Officer, Games will be responsible for providing Administrative and strategic support to the Head of Games

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Assist the Head of Games in driving and delivering the overall games strategy, including highlighting potential UK and US events where BAFTA Games should be present and assist in the delivery of these
  • Identify industry ambassadors to assist in the delivery of the overall games strategy
  • Research possible video exclusives for inclusion in the Awards ceremony
  • Curate additional games exhibitions – including Inside Games Arcade
  • Research potential members for both UK and US membership, including possible membership benefits
  • Manage the monthly games membership calls/meetings and drive the overall games membership plan including a retention strategy
  • Assist the committee and Head of Games in pulling together relevant industry practitioners for first stage voting and for jury participation and support and assist the jury process where necessary
  • Oversee the BAFTA One’s to Watch Award in association with Dare to Be Digital
  • Assist with the review of category definitions and rules, working with the Head of Games
  • Handle all general, eligibility and credit amendment correspondence from entrants, /press departments, nominees and winners 
  • Assist with the PR and social media campaigns for the Awards
  • Support the Head of Games on the ticketing for the Games Awards including industry ticket sales

Additional Responsibilities

  • Be present on the days and nights of ceremonies to assist in preparatory, rehearsal and backstage activities as required
  • Co-ordinate with membership the games screeners
  • Collate a list of all the indie, online and mobile market possible entries

Other Responsibilities                               

  • Respond to any Games queries to the Awards team from members, industry professionals and entrants
  • Oversee the distribution of the games consoles for juries
  • Any other general administrative duties as required.

Essential Skills and Requirements

  • Significant, proven experience of working across the games industry with a passion for gaming
  • Experience of successfully handling large amounts of information with care and precision
  • Self-motivated, resilient and confident decision maker with the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels of an organisation and with a wide range of stakeholders (both internally and externally) in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Experience of delivering accurate, detailed work to deadline
  • Excellent computer skills including (minimum) intermediate Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organisational abilities, and the discipline for self-organisation without direct supervision
  • Enthusiasm for working as part of a team
  • Excellent written communication skills and a positive and confident telephone manner
  • Abreast of the latest games software and a broad and diverse contact base within the industry
