Drawing praise for her work on films directed by husband Peter Bogdanovich, Platt was production designer on such favourites as The Last Picture Show (1971) and Paper Moon (1973). She wrote the screenplay for Pretty Baby (1978) and as production designer again was Oscar nominated for Terms of Endearment (1983).
