A Manchester born performer, Jones had an early role in Coronation Street (1961) before achieving international fame as one of The Monkees, initially in their television series (1966-1968) and later in cult movie Head (1968). He continued to tour, and had cameos in films including The Brady Bunch Movie (1995).
