On stage, Carlin challenged audiences with his edgy material, famously finding himself in trouble for citing the seven words that can never be broadcast. Continually in demand for live performance he fronted shows such as Saturday Night Live (1975) and starred in films including Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1988).
