Games Awards Key Dates and Actions for Entrants

This page is merely an overview of the key dates and actions for entrants into the British Academy Games Awards in 2014. We ask that all entrants consult the rulebook - accessible at http- for full details of the Awards process.

KEY DATES AND DETAILS ACTIONS FOR ENTRANTS
25 JUNE 2013 – ENTRIES OPEN
The Awards open for entry – all entries should be made using the Entry Portal online at http://entryportal.bafta.org. Entry guides are available at http://awards.bafta.org/entry.




Between 25 June and 11 November, we encourage all entrants to take advantage of the opportunity to distribute copies of their games to the voting membership – this is not mandatory, but can assist the voters in the first round. Please see the rulebook for more details.




Entries made on or before Monday 21 October, for games released by Friday 29 November, are eligible for ‘Early Bird’ entry. To make the Awards as inclusive as possible, BAFTA is pleased to offer entrants their first entry complimentary if it is submitted on or before the ‘Early Bird’ deadline, with fees applying for subsequent entries as follows:




1 x game: no fee (please note that the game can be entered into multiple categories)

Up to 5 games: £210.00 (£175.00 + £35.00 vat)

6 games and over: £300.00 (£250.00 + £50.00 vat)



No fees will be processed through the Entry Portal – if your entry incurs a fee then BAFTA will contact you to process payment.

21 OCTOBER 2013 – EARLY BIRD DEADLINE
This is the deadline for Early Bird entries, and the last day that it is possible to submit your first entry free of charge. After 21 October, the following fees apply:



For games released by Friday 29 November 2013 and submitted after Monday 21 October

1 x game: £90.00 (£75.00 + £15.00 vat)

Up to 5 x games: £240.00 (£200 + £40.00 vat)

6 games and over: £348.00 (£290.00 + £58.00 vat)



No fees will be processed through the Entry Portal – if your entry incurs a fee then BAFTA will contact you to process payment.

11 NOVEMBER 2013 – ENTRY PORTAL CLOSES
The Entry Portal closes for entries.

Ensure entries are completed in the Entry Portal.
21 NOVEMBER - 4 DECEMBER 2013 – FIRST ROUND VOTE
BAFTA’s Games voting membership perform the first round of voting, drawing up a shortlist of games for each category.



29 NOVEMBER 2013 – LATE RELEASES AND JURY PREPARATION
This is the deadline for all “Late Release” entries, for games released between 29 November and 31 December. For more information on the Late Release entry process, please consult the rulebook.

6 DECEMBER 2013 – SHORTLISTING
On this date, the shortlist resulting from the first round vote is confirmed. If your game is shortlisted, BAFTA will contact you to confirm this and advise on the next steps. BAFTA will assemble a jury of experts for each category, who vote on that category’s shortlist to determine the nominations and winner. As such, if your game is shortlisted, it is essential that you are able to provide enough copies for the juries of each of the categories in which it is shortlisted (usually eleven copies per category).



At this stage, if you have not already done so, you will be asked to submit up to three names of those who made the most creative contribution to the game in each shortlisted category – these will go on to become the nominees should the game be nominated.

12 DECEMBER 2013 – DEADLINE FOR JURY GAMES SUBMISSION
This is the deadline for submitting copies of shortlisted games for jury consideration. Provide copies of shortlisted games for jurors.

12 FEBRUARY 2014 - NOMINATIONS
Following the completion of the jury stage, the nominations will be announced. BAFTA will contact the entrants of all nominated games to congratulate them, and provide BAFTA imagery for use in promotional material.







We will also request media materials for use in the ceremony – we will need one still image of each game per nomination (for use in the Awards brochure and online), and one 30 second video clip (for use in the ceremony itself). We will confirm the specifications for these in our communication to entrants.





BAFTA will contact nominees (or representatives) for each nominated title to offer our congratulations and request that they complete a Nominee Form confirming their details and attendance to the awards.

19 FEBRUARY 2014 – CLIP AND IMAGERY DEADLINE
This is the deadline for supplying BAFTA with video clips and imagery for the ceremony. Ensure video and imagery are supplied.
28 FEBRUARY 2014 - TICKET BOOKING DEADLINE
This is the deadline for returning ticket booking forms for attendance at the Awards. To request a ticket booking form please contact [email protected].


Ensure that ticket booking forms are returned.
MARCH 2014 – BRITISH ACADEMY GAMES AWARDS 2014
The Awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday 12 March at Tobacco Dock, London.
