Channel 4 is a publicly-owned, commercially-funded public service broadcaster, with a statutory remit to be innovative, experimental, distinctive and diverse. Unlike the other commercially-funded public service broadcasters, Channel 4 is not shareholder-owned: its not-for-profit status ensures that the maximum amount of its revenues are reinvested in the delivery of its public service remit. As a publisher-broadcaster, Channel 4 is required to commission from the independent production sector. Channel 4’s portfolio now includes Channel 4, E4, Film4, More4 and 4Seven, as well as an ever-growing range of online activities that includes channel4.com, Channel 4's bespoke video-on-demand service 4oD and standalone digital projects. Through its film arm Film4 Channel 4 is also a key supporter of British film making talent.
The partnership between Channel 4 and BAFTA spans events and awards as well as involvement in other industry initiatives, notably the promotion of sustainable production via the Albert carbon calculator tool.
