Project REVQUAL - Rate Videos for Visual Quality

BAFTA Research video quality testingWhat’s involved?

We have prepared several 10-second videos for online viewing, with several copies each reflecting different visual quality.  We’d like you to ‘rate’ these for viewing quality.  In each test, you’ll be shown two versions of the same video, and provide ratings for each based on viewing quality.

Visit https://rate.revqual.com to start.  Either use your email address on each visit, allowing your ratings contributions to be tracked and your email entered in a prize draw (it will not be shared in any other way), or rate anonymously.  Each video is short – about ten seconds in length, which means that each pair take only about 20 seconds to rate.

How does this help?

The REVQUAL project is creating new technology to automatically perform the best possible transcoding for any video from original material, based on human perception.  This ‘Transcoding Optimisation Service’ can help continuously improve viewing copies of video as platforms, displays, codecs and formats change.  The Visual Quality Rating site helps build ‘ground truth’ based on human perception.  We plan to offer the analysed results as an open dataset, to help all researchers.

Please share the link https://rate.revqual.com  as widely as possible.  We need to collect ratings from a wide variety of viewers of all ages and with all types of experience of online video.
