American screenwriter and director Dee Rees' feature debut was the widely acclaimed Pariah, and is best known for her recent Netflix release Mudbound which had its UK premier at London Film Festival this year.

Now in its eighth year, the series exists to celebrate screenwriters’ authorial contribution to film, and gives esteemed writers a platform to share highlights and insights from their careers. The series is funded by JJ Charitable Trust, one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts and is created by BAFTA-winning screenwriter Jeremy Brock.
