We are thrilled to have film and theatre award winning actress Gemma Arterton in conversation to discuss Andrea Arnold’s BAFTA winning modern classic, Fish Tank.
Gemma first conquered Shakespeare at the Globe at just 21, as a newly graduated student of RADA. Her film debut in St Trinian’s swiftly followed. A Bond girl in Quantum of Solace and lead role in David Blair’s television series Tess of the D’Urbervilles were amongst her early roles in 2008, with a BAFTA nomination in 2011.
Since then Gemma has graced block-busters, indie movies and stage musicals alike with equal aplomb. Gemma stars in Dominic Savage’s latest drama The Escape and is due to appear next as Vita Sackville-West in forthcoming historical romance ‘Vita and Virginia’.
Andrea Arnold’s second feature Fish Tank is an intense study of youth alienation and won her the BAFTA for Best British Film and the Cannes Jury Prize. Katie Jarvis gives an astonishingly powerful performance as Mia, a volatile and break-dancing obsessed teen, alongside Michael Fassbinder as her single mother’s boyfriend.
