Andy Serkis
Monday, 15 January 2018 - 7:00pm
Princess Anne Theatre, BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, London
Actor, director, producer and pioneer of motion capture Andy Serkis discusses how The Red Shoes (1948) has inspired his filmmaking.

Hosted by Mark Kermode, Andy Serkis joins us on stage to discuss how Powell and Pressburger’s 1948 fantasy The Red Shoes has inspired him at a special screening to close our 70th anniversary presentation series.

Founder of pioneering performance-capture studio, The Imaginarium, ‘cyber-thespian’ Andy Serkis has helped bring British digital expertise to the forefront of modern global film-production.

Andy is most famous for his performance-captured portrayal of the troubled Gollum in block-buster trilogies Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. His admiration for Powell and Pressburger’s feverish balletic classic reflects his own intense and original approach to developing characters on screen.
