We’ve heard it before-videogames and films are quickly converging, with films becoming increasingly interactive, and many videogames seeking to emulate the narrative sophistication of the movies. Sci Fi London are going to help us to kick a little dust into the gleaming PR machine around 3D. It’s here to stay, we keep hearing: everyone’s doing it. But are they? Here we will be interrogating both pro and anti 3D pundits, in an attempt to get to the bottom of one of the most divisive issues in modern cinema. With time for critics and filmmakers alike, we’ll look at 3D from both a technological and an artistic perspective and explore whether it’s only the big players getting in on the action, or whether there is something here for the indie filmmaker. Chaired by Louis Savy, Director of Sci-fi London, the panel will include Ridley Scott Associates director Barney Cokeliss’ presenting his 3D short film The Foundling with Ivor Benjamin (Director of the Director’s Guild) to play Devil’s Advocate against 3D.
