Solomon a Gaenor + Q&A (Cardiff - UK Jewish Film Festival)

Thursday, 5 December 2019 - 8:00pm
Chapter, Cardiff
To mark the 20th anniversary of Solomon a Gaenor join us for a special screening of the multi-BAFTA Cymru winning/nominated film, followed by a Q&A.

This heartbreaking classic of British-Jewish cinema is set amid the anti-Jewish riots of 1911. Starring Ioan Gruffudd, Nia Roberts and Maureen Lipman, Solomon and Gaenor tells the story of a young Orthodox-Jewish man in South Wales who falls in love with a local girl. The film is shot in Welsh and Yiddish and was nominated for Best Foreign Language film in the 2000 Oscars.

The 23rd UK Jewish Film Festival features, for the first time, a wide-scale tour of the UK, which includes screenings of films with Jewish content in 21 towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Followed by a Q&A with the film's producer Paul Morrison and actress Nia Roberts (Bang/Hidden/Keeping Faith).
