A series of film screenings for children with life limiting conditions held throughout the UK before Christmas.
BAFTA hosted a very special screening on Saturday 30 November of Frozen 2D, at Cineworld Cardiff for the families of Tŷ Hafan . This free screening is one of a series of BAFTA Christmas Hospice Screenings for life-limited children and their families across the UK. Saturday’s screening in Cardiff aims to give a fun day out to the children from Tŷ Hafan and their families. It is presented in partnership with Cineworld and Walt Disney Studios , and is also supported by Hamleys Cardiff and Celtic Prop Hire . The BAFTA Christmas Hospice Screenings, now in their fourth consecutive year, form part of BAFTA’s year round, UK-wide, programme of events for audiences across the country.
Allison Dowzell, Director of BAFTA Cymru, said:
"BAFTA is delighted to be working with our venue partners, Cineworld and Walt Disney Studios to host this special event for children from Tŷ Hafan and their families. We hope our special guests enjoyed the film and had a lovely day out together.”
The BAFTA Christmas Hospice Screenings, launched in 2009, are a UK-wide series of special screenings for children with life limiting conditions and their families. These screenings, exclusively for the children and their families, are in partnership with local children’s hospices, and are supported in 2013 by Walt Disney Studios and venue partners Cineworld, Giant Screen Birmingham and Parkways Cinema in Cleethorpes.
Each event is specially created with the needs of the families in mind, with venues being made exclusively available to the guests in order that the families feel comfortable in their surroundings. All venues have wheelchair access and all events included seasonal activities and entertainment to create a really special day out.
The BAFTA Hospice Screenings in 2013 have been made possible by the fundraising efforts of BAFTA members who ran the 2013 Virgin London Marathon.
