BAFTA in Wales
BAFTA CYMRU/HUW JOHNBAFTA in Wales continues to support, develop and promote the Welsh moving image industries.

To further encourage the development of BAFTA in Wales and expand our activities throughout the country, we are looking to engage a wide-spread membership base throughout Wales that will bring together the expertise and knowledge of individuals within the media and creative industries.

This will make a significant impact on our voting membership, and ensure that the highest standards of achievements are recognised at the annual Awards ceremony. With the support of our members, our focus is to promote and encourage excellence in the Welsh media industry.

Full Membership (Wales Branch)

Full Membership of BAFTA including additional benefits with BAFTA in Wales

This category is available through BAFTA to individuals who:

  • Are based in Wales and have worked full-time for at least five years in a creative, technical or executive role directly related to the production of feature films, video games, and television programming broadcast in the UK.
  • Have made a significant contribution to their sector of the industry.

These members are entitled to:

  • all rights of benefits of membership and BAFTA
  • additional rights and benefits with BAFTA in Wales.
  • entitled to attend BAFTA screenings and events in Wales and elsewhere in the UK at no or reduced cost.

Full membership applications will be considered annually and are awarded at the discretion of the BAFTA UK membership committees. Please note places are very limited.

The annual deadline for Full membership is 31 March.

Branch Membership

Wales only

This category is available to those who:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years professional experience in the film, television or interactive media industries or in any field directly related to them (e.g. Research, acting or teaching).
  • Are not eligible for Full BAFTA membership, or are not interested in the additional benefits of Full membership.

These members are entitled to:

  • Voting rights for the British Academy Cymru Awards. In addition, all voting members have the right to attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting and for the election of the Management Committee of BAFTA in Wales.
  • Attend preview screenings and other special events and premieres in Wales throughout the year, either organised by BAFTA in Wales or in collaboration with other events/organisations. Members are offered free entry to all BAFTA events, screenings, talks and masterclasses in Wales.
  • Free cinema entry in Cineworld , Odeon and VUE Cinemas.Discounted cinema entry in Chapter, Cardiff. All Members receive advance notification of all events/screenings via email.
  • Purchase tickets at special rates for the annual British Academy Cymru Awards Ceremony.

Reduced COUNTRY rate: BRANCH membership
*Applies to people living and working more than 50 miles outside Cardiff. Criteria as for BRANCH membership above.

Branch Company Membership (5 individual memberships)

This category is available to those who:

  • Meet the criteria for Branch Membership as above.

These members are entitled to:

  • All the rights and benefits of BRANCH Membership.

Reduced membership for 5 individuals joining from the same company.

Branch Career Starter Membership

Wales only

Open to anyone based in Wales who has less than 3 years professional experience in the film, television and interactive media industry or in any field directly related to them (e.g Research, acting or teaching). Must be already working in or actively pursuing a career in the industry. Members may remain in this category for a maximum of three years.

These members are entitled to:

  • Attend preview screenings and other special events and premieres in Wales throughout the year, either organised by BAFTA in Wales or in collaboration with other events/organisations. Members are offered free entry to all BAFTA events, screenings, talks and masterclasses in Wales.
  • Free cinema entry in Cineworld , Odeon and VUE Cinemas. Discounted cinema entry in Chapter, Cardiff. All Members receive advance notification of all events/screenings via email.

Branch Student Membership

Wales only

This category is offered to all students who live in or are studying in Wales. Please provide evidence of Student Status.

These members are entitled to:

  • Attend preview screenings and other special events and premieres in Wales throughout the year, either organised by BAFTA in Wales or in collaboration with other events/organisations. Members are offered free entry to all BAFTA events, screenings, talks and masterclasses in Wales.
  • Free cinema entry in Cineworld , Odeon and VUE Cinemas. Discounted cinema entry in Chapter, Cardiff. All Members receive advance notification of all events/screenings via email.

Membership Prices 2012/13
The 2012/2013 memberships year runs from 1 June 2012 until 31 May 2013.

Full Membership (Wales branch): £260.00 (inc VAT)
Please note, Full Membership is capped and places are very limited; applications are considered on an annual basis. Applicants may therefore be offered Branch membership while their application for Full membership is considered or if Full membership is not available.

Branch Membership: £105.00
Wales only.

Branch Membership (Reduced Country Rate): £75.00
Wales only.

Branch Company Membership (5 individual memberships): £525.00
Wales only.

Branch Career Starter Membership: £50.00
Wales only.

Branch Student Membership: £35.00
Wales only.

All memberships are for named individuals and are not transferable. All rates are inclusive of VAT.
