Children across Wales have been voting for their favourite Children’s Programme out of the entries to this year’s British Academy Cymru Awards.
BAFTA Wales has been working alongside FilmClub to involve as many children as possible in screenings held in Llandudno, Aberystwyth and Cardiff.
The children, aged 7-11 years old were shown 5 minutes clips of each programme and then asked to vote for their favourite. Allison Dowzell, Director of BAFTA Wales said: “It’s the first time that we have run the voting for this category in this way, but it makes perfect sense given that the programmes have been made for this age group. The children were delighted and excited to be a part of BAFTA and proved to be quite a discerning audience of voters.”
The four programmes receiving the most children’s votes, will then go through to a final jury of industry experts who will decide upon the winner. The award will then be presented at the British Academy Cymru Awards on 29 September at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.
