Tickets now on sale for the public to attend
We have today announced today that the after party celebrations for this year’s British Academy Cymru Awards will be held at the newly-refurbished Radisson Blu hotel for the first time.
The 26th ceremony, which will be preceded by red carpet arrivals and a Champagne Taittinger reception, will take place on 8 October 2017 at St David’s Hall, Cardiff and will be hosted once again by presenter Huw Stephens. The ceremony will feature special guest performances and celebrity award presenters representing the best of the UK’s creative and media industries.
Following the announcement of winners in 26 categories, the guests will be making the short distance to the newly-refurbished Radisson Blu hotel for the after party celebrations.
Awaiting them on arrival will be a first floor dedicated to the biggest celebration of creative media talent of the year. The four hour party will offer entertainment from the Rhys Taylor swing band; special sets from DJ Snooze; a casino and games room with Tiny Rebel beers; a Villa Maria and Champagne Taittinger lounge; and gin cocktails from Welsh distillery Da Mhile. Radisson Blu’s head chef has also created a special buffet for guests with Welsh ingredients, which will offer sustenance for the dancing and networking as the evening goes on.
To celebrate the return of the Games Award to the BAFTA Cymru Awards ceremony for the first time in six years, BAFTA Cymru partners Sugar Creative have created a special game for party attendees to play with virtual reality headsets.
Hannah Raybould, Director of BAFTA Cymru said; “After a few years of hosting the after party celebrations at the same venue as the Awards, we felt that it was time to offer guests a more elaborate party experience and the nearby Radisson Blu gives us the perfect venue to expand and increase the variety of what we can offer nominees, winners and guests on the night of the Awards. We’re looking forward to hearing what guests think of the changes to our evening of celebrating the work of these talented individuals.”
Jean-Marc Poumel of Radisson Blu said: “It is a real privilege to be the official post-Ceremony Celebration venue, our team have worked extremely hard with BAFTA team to bring this iconic and unique event to our establishment.
“This stands with our efforts to embrace the Welsh culture and portray the Hotel as a proud ambassador of our Welsh community, including an exceptional array of appetizers showcasing Welsh produce created by our Executive Chef Mattias Wenngren and his team.
“We are confident that we will deliver a successful event worthy of all winners, nominees and guests of the British Academy Cymru Awards to cement our ongoing partnership.”
Tickets to attend the Champagne Taittinger reception, Awards and After Party are priced £95 each and available to the public and industry professionals.
