Excitement and speculation is mounting ahead of the 2013 British Academy Cymru Awards ceremony which takes place at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay this Sunday (Sep 29th, 2013).
Stars of the big and small screen are set to attend the BAFTA Cymru event which honours excellence in broadcasting and production within Film and Television in Wales. They will be joined by a whole host of famous faces from the fields of theatre, music and sport in Wales.
Hosting the ceremony will be television presenter Matt Johnson and news presenter Sian Lloyd and expected to attend are the stars of television dramas Stella, Sherlock and The Indian Doctor, all of which are nominated for multiple awards this year. Also expected to grace the red carpet are the nominees for the Best Actress - Ruth Jones, Mali Harries and Sara Lloyd-Gregory and Best Actor - Michael Sheen, Mark Lewis Jones and Rhodri Meilir.
Confirmed celebrity award presenters include Wales and Cardiff City footballer Craig Bellamy, singer-songwriter Charlotte Church, star of The White Queen, Aneurin Barnard, Casualty star Suzanne Packer and BAFTA award winning actress Vicky McClure. Having returned that very morning from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Velindre Cancer Centre and ‘Amser Justin Time’, classical singer Shân Cothi and actress Cath Ayers will be presenting the award for Best Children’s Programme.
The evening's entertainment will be provided by chart-topping act Richard and Adam Johnson. The duo, who hail from Hollywell, will perform the title track from their Number 1 album The Impossible Dream which followed their appearance on television talent show Britain's Got Talent.
Richard and Adam said, “We are thrilled to have been invited to open this year’s BAFTA Wales awards ceremony. This will be our first professional performance at the iconic Wales Millennium Centre and appearing in front of such a prestigious audience will be such an honour. Wales has so much to offer in terms of creative talent and it is so important that we all celebrate that. It’s sure to be a memorable night and we are excited to be part of it”.
The entire show will be streamed live on the BAFTA Cymru website as made possible by the event's sponsors Autograffeg, NEP Cymru and Gorilla.
This year there are 29 programme, craft and performance categories to be awarded to honour excellence in broadcasting and production within Film and Television in Wales between 1 January 2012 and 31 March 2013.
