BAFTA HQ Builds on London 2012 Olympics Success

22 October 12

Exclusive Hire of 195 Piccadilly Available from August 2012

London: 16 October 2012. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) today announced that its prestigious headquarters, 195 Piccadilly, will be available for exclusive private hire for periods of up to four weeks in August 2013.

Traditionally, 195 Piccadilly closes its doors to BAFTA members during the month of August. However, for the first time this year, the building was taken over by UPS, Official Supporter of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, on an exclusive hire basis and served as its own Olympic hospitality venue in Central London for the duration of the Games. 195 Piccadilly not only provided formal dining, cocktail bars and lounge areas, but a venue that provided sufficient flexibility for UPS to showcase its long association with the Games through a Customer Experiential zone in the venue’s David Lean Room.

Following highly positive feedback from UPS and its clients, BAFTA decided that 195 Piccadilly will, in future, will be available to hire on an exclusive basis for up to four weeks, during which time clients can create their own showcase venue for key customers in the heart of London’s West End over the summer period.

With its connection to the film and television industry, 195 Piccadilly leads the way in offering state-of-the-art technology and continues to provide the best screening facilities in London. An outstanding cinema experience combined with three floors of versatile space was no doubt a deciding factor for UPS, combined with its central London location.

Jenny Bones, Head of Commercial Events at 195 Piccadilly, said: “The flexibility of space combined with its central west end location, makes BAFTA’s headquarters a unique blank canvas for clients to make their own branded space for showcase events and exhibitions.

“So many clients come back each year as the venue not only offers outstanding presentational facilities but also because of the superb catering provided by Executive Head Chef, Anton Manganaro, and the dedication of the team, technicians, front-of-house, and event support services.”

Dara Otwell, Director, International Sponsorships & Events at UPS, also commented: “We chose BAFTA for its great central location, its history and heritage, and the versatility of the spaces”.

Also new for 2013 and available for an exclusive number of dates will be the opportunity to host drinks receptions in the adjacent St James’s Garden, a hidden gem overlooking historic Jermyn Street.
