Amber Akaunu | BAFTA Kirsh Scholarship

Amber Akaunu is a Nigerian-German artist from Liverpool. She is awarded the Kirsh scholarship of £10,000 towards an MA in Filmmaking (Screen Documentary) at Goldsmiths, University of London. Amber is being mentored by Derren Lawford.

This scholarship has given me a life changing opportunity that I otherwise would not have been able to pursue.

Amber works across several mediums to explore concepts and ideas around race and identity. She is also a co-founder of ROOT-ed Zine which is a quarterly magazine and social platform for BAME creatives from the North West of England.

Amber said: "This scholarship has given me a life changing opportunity that I otherwise would not have been able to pursue. I'm now able to attend Goldsmiths and do the course that is best suited for me and my goals while also having the support of BAFTA via a mentor. I'm really excited to take full advantage of this incredible opportunity."
