Smita Bhide

Smita is a writer, director and producer of both television and films. 

She is the co-creator, writer and co-producer of Netflix Original’s The Indian Detective (Big Light/Blue Ice Films/Bell Media/Wonder Films/Netflix), an award-winning detective series set in Mumbai. She is also an episode writer on new drama series Ten Pound Poms (Eleven Film/BBC) and worked on season two of Dangerous Liaisons (Lionsgate). Previous credits include writer-producer on  Hunted (Kudos/Big Light Productions/HBOCinemax/BBC) and episode writer on season two of Transporter (Atlantique Productions/M6/RTL/HBO Canada). 

Smita’s main film credits include screenwriter on acclaimed international feature Desert Flower, winner of the Audience Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2009; writer-director of The Blue Tower, which won Raindance’s Best UK Feature award in 2008; and writer-director of short film Another Planet, which won the Golden Lamp Tree award at the Indian Independent Film Festival in 2011. 

Smita is currently developing several high-end television drama series in a wide range of genres, from political thrillers to true life factual dramas and high-concept science fiction.
