Sarah Farinha

Sarah Farinha (née Woolner) is a BAFTA-winning screenwriter who creates bold worlds and larger-than-life characters, often with a twist of humour. After graduating from the National Film and Television School with an MA in Screenwriting, her short animation Sleeping with the Fishes won her a BAFTA in 2014. She was then invited to join the BBC TV Drama Writers’ Programme, where she developed a project with BBC Studios. 

Sarah currently has a first-look deal with Carnival Films, part of Universal International Studios. Her television slate includes an adaptation of Meghan Nolan’s award-winning novel Acts of Desperation and original series Low Town Crow, a grisly tale of revenge within an all-female British rural crime family. She is also developing her next film project with her longtime collaborator, acclaimed filmmaker Cathy Brady (Wildfire, The Doll Factory). Cathy and Sarah worked together on IFTA award-winning short, Morning

Sarah is also a visiting screenwriting lecturer at the University of the Arts, London, and the recipient of prestigious fellowships for The MacDowell Colony and Yaddo in the US.
