BAFTA to Showcase Up-and-Coming British Film Talent to the US Industry in New York and Los Angeles
BAFTA launches 'Brits to Watch: The Screenings', a series of showcase events, in partnership with British Council, that will introduce outstanding British film talent to the US film industry. The first event will be with BAFTA-nominated director Clio Barnard in July.

Patrick Dickinson becomes the first Brit to win a Student Emmy
BAFTA Brit to Watch Patrick Dickinson, director, has won a Student Emmy for his latest film, Usagi-San. The first British national to do so, Patrick collected the award for 2nd Place for Outstanding Drama at the 34th College Television Awards in the US.

Writer Jack Thorne Gets Green Light for 'Glue'
British writer, 2011 BAFTA Brit To Watch and BAFTA-winner Jack Thorne, has secured a commission from E4 for his latest original drama series; Glue. The show is billed as a twisted, wayward and darkly compelling tale of murder, teenagers and rural English village life.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Attend BAFTA Brits to Watch Event
Academy president the Duke of Cambridge was in attendance at BAFTA's prestigious Brits to Watch event held at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles on 9 July. He arrived with his wife Catherine Middleton who wore a stunning lilac gown by Alexander McQueen.
The couple attended as part of their Royal tour in California and rewarded crowds who had been waiting outside the venue to watch the red carpet with plenty of attention and hand shakes.
Both William and Catherine took the opportunity to talk with the many Hollywood A-listers also in attendance, all of whom were eager to meet the Royal couple. Other attendees included the likes of Blake Lively, Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez and Barbra Streisand.
The young Prince expressed his greatest support of the BAFTA Brits to Watch, a new Academy initiative set-up between The London based Academy and our branch in Los Angeles with the purpose of promoting and supporting emerging British talent in America. Speaking about the project he said; "Creativity and success are surely the spark of strong collaboration. I can think of no stronger working partnership than the one between the United Kingdom and the United States.

42 Brits to Watch announced for inaugural event in Los Angeles
BAFTA is delighted to announce the names of the42 Brits to Watch who are the focus of the inaugural BAFTA Brits to Watch in partnership with Audi. The event will take place on Saturday 9 July at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles.
BAFTA’s President, HRH The Duke of Cambridge, and HRH The Duchess of Cambridge will attend the event as part of their visit to California, helping highlight the incredible depth and range of great British talent currently emerging in film, television and video games.
The 42 emerging Brits have been selected by a BAFTA panel based on a number of criteria. They will generally not be complete beginners in their industry, and will have already begun to show real promise. They are:
The selection panel had no hard and fast rules about the number of previous credits a candidate should have, how old they are or how many years they need to have been in the business in order to be included. They looked at each person individually, assessing where they are in their careers and how they might benefit from the event and an introduction to Hollywood.
Amongst the group, there is a range of experience, but what they all have in common is that our panel has seen in them a real spark of talent and creativity and we should expect to hear more from them in the future.
