Tim Wicksteed | Game Developer

Tim’s first job was as a mechanical engineer. For a while it was okay, but he missed the creativity of making games when he was younger and after a couple of years made the bold step of starting his own games company. Twice Circled launched on New Year’s Day in 2013 and before the year was out he released Ionage, his debut title for Android.

In 2014 Tim partnered with Positech Games to create a title for PC, convinced that there was a gap in the market for a factory-based strategy game but not knowing exactly what it would be. Inspiration struck when, getting out of the shower one morning, Tim spotted some empty pill packets on his bathroom cabinet. He recalls instantly knowing that pharmaceuticals was the perfect fit, and in 2015 he released Big Pharma, which would go on to sell over 100,000 copies and spend several days at the top of Steam’s download chart. He’s since released a Big Pharma expansion and as he prepares for his next solo project, Tim reflects that “it’s been both exciting and daunting to find out that there’s no magic secret to succeeding. Take lessons from your mistakes, follow your instincts, and it will happen.”
