Stacy Martin

Stacy Martin

Stacy Martin is an actress who made her debut in Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac. In 2014 she shot three films: The Tale of Tales for Gomorrah director, Matteo Garrone, alongside Vincent Cassel and John C Reilly; Ben Wheatley’s new film High Rise, based on the JG Ballard novel; and Winter, co-starring Tommy Flanagan and Jessica Hynes. Stacy has been mentored as a Breakthrough Brit by Peter Strickland.

To be recognised by BAFTA is a massive deal for someone who enters this world in an unconventional way like me. I didn’t do the ‘three years at drama school’ path. I’ve had to find my own way of working, my own way of breaking into the industry. It can be very competitive and you can feel lonely at times, because you’re always compared with other people.
