Ed Barratt

Ed Barratt is a producer and founder of Hook Pictures. His debut feature film The Rise, starring Luke Treadaway, Iwan Rheon and Timothy Spall was released in September 2013 and directed by fellow Breakthrough Brit 2013 Rowan Athale.

As part of his Breakthrough Brits programme, Ed met with producers David Kosse and Tim Bevan as well as commissioners from all the major broadcasters including Cameron Roach at Sky, Piers Wenger at Channel 4 and Ben Stephenson at the BBC. Ed has become a mentor in his own right for BAFTA as we support the next generation of film talent across the English regions.

It’s great to be a part of such a prestigious scheme and to be recognised alongside some seriously talented individuals. It can be difficult running a film business from the North East when the industry is so naturally focussed on London, but I hope this shows what the regions have to offer.
