Online Tickets

a) You must be logged into the Members' Area of the website to view and book members' events and screenings. To log in to the Members Area enter your registered email address and password.

b) Members can book online as soon as the event or screening is featured in the Members' Newsletter sent out every Wednesday morning at 9.30am.

c) Once you have a successful booking, a confirmation page will appear on your computer screen.

d) An e-ticket will then be automatically generated and will be sent to your email address.

e) Please either leave your e-ticket at Reception on arrival or make yourself known to the host to ensure that you are checked in.

f) If the screening is fully booked online, you will be given the option of joining the notification list. We will then contact people in order of the list if tickets become available.

g) Due to member feedback we are allowing more tickets to be booked online in advance. There will still be 2 rows of tickets available on the door for member screenings. For other events, all tickets will be bookable in advance, and any cancelled tickets will be available on the door. Door tickets are available from reception 45 minutes before the start time.

h) You must pick up your tickets 10 minutes before the start time. Un-collected tickets may be re-allocated after this time.

i) Members will be barred for missing two screenings within a 60 day period. After 30 days the ban is lifted.

j) You may cancel a ticket online by logging into the Members' Area of the website and clicking on 'My Bookings' next to the 'Log Out' function above the main toolbar. Or, if you are unable to access a computer, you may call Reception. This should be done by 6pm on the day before the screening to allow time for your ticket to be reallocated. If you cancel tickets after this time you will be registered as having missed a screening.

k) If you know that your guest is not coming, please cancel their ticket by emailing events@bafta.org or calling 020 7292 5840 by 6pm on the day before the event or screening. If you have booked a guest ticket and do not use it, this will count as a missed screening.

l) Logged-in Members can view their current bookings by clicking on the 'My Bookings' link at the top of the screen.

Changes in Policy From January 2012

You can find specific rationale for each of these changes below:

- Cancellation Policy: Before the changes, the cancellation cut off time was 12pm on the day of the event. At this point, we have a large volume of cancellations, which then become available to other members. Members who have not been able to book tickets for events and screenings have fed back to us that this does not give them sufficient time to make arrangements to attend the evening’s event. We have therefore moved the cancellation cut off time earlier to ensure that we have sufficient time to offer other members unused tickets.

- Missed screenings and events: Previously the policy was that if you miss two events in a row within a 30 day period, then you are banned from online booking for 30 days. We still find that we have a lot of cancellations so we have extended the eligibility period to encourage members to cancel unused tickets. Please remember that you will only be barred if you miss two screenings within a 60 day period. After 30 days your record is restored.

- Guest tickets: A significant number of members book for a guest and then do not use their guest ticket. This leads to a large number of unused tickets, so we have extended the cancellation penalty to guest tickets to encourage members to cancel or amend bookings and to enable us to use unallocated tickets.

- Notification List: The waiting list is unpredictable at best and often allocates tickets to members who no longer want them. A notification e-mail list ensures that members who are unable to book get a second chance at booking and also ensures that members who book still want tickets and are able to use them.

- Walk up tickets: Walk up tickets often go unused. Many members have fed back that they prefer to know that they have a seat booked. We will still preserve some walk up tickets for members who prefer to come on the day or are unable to commit in advance. Cancelled tickets will also be added to the walk up tickets, meaning that in practice there will often be more than two rows available on the door.

- Ticket pick up: This policy enables us to manage unused tickets and re-allocate tickets which are not going to be used. It will only take effect for busy screenings and events.

- Amending bookings: Unfortunately the new ticket provider does not enable members to amend bookings currently. We will continue to monitor this issue and discuss with our ticket provider.

Telephone Bookings

Members who do not have an email address may make a booking by calling Reception on 020 7734 0022 on weekdays.

a) Bookings by telephone open at the same time as online bookings.

b) Tickets will only be allocated if there is availability within the advance booking allocation.

c) If all bookable tickets have been allocated, members without email must apply for the remaining tickets on the day.

d) Reception is often busy. If we cannot take your booking straight away, we will take your number and call you back.
