The actress and star of Goodness Gracious Me speaks to Bonnie Greer about her life in television.

Syal rose to fame as one of the team behind comedy series Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars At No.42. Her screenwriter credits include Anita & Me and Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee.

So many of my generation went into the creative arts because we had a really good grounding in changing masks all the time.

Syal speaks to Bonnie Greer about her first television appearances on the groundbreaking comedy The Real McCoy, and her portrayals of issues like arranged marriages from the thriller My Sister-Wife to sketches in Goodness Gracious Me.
