BAFTA Appoints Director Of Awards

21 October 2014

Emma Baehr has been appointed in this new role.

London, 22 October 2014: The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced that Emma Baehr has become its Director of Awards, a new role that oversees all five of BAFTA’s London-based ceremonies including November’s British Academy Children’s Awards and next February’s EE British Academy Film Awards.

The role will be responsible for the ongoing development of BAFTA’s Awards, ensuring output reaches a wide and diverse audience, increasing engagement with the film, television and games industries and identifying the strategic partnerships which will be essential to ensure the Awards remain the gold standard.  Emma will report directly to BAFTA’s Chief Executive, Amanda Berry.

Emma also joins Amanda on BAFTA’s senior management team, whose members are: Clare Brown, Director of Production; Gilly Burgess, Director of Finance; Tim Hunter, Director of Learning and Events; Kevin Price, Chief Operating Officer; and Julian Shaw, Director of BAFTA 195 Piccadilly.

As part of the restructure, Jim Bradshaw, Head of Membership, also becomes Acting Head of Film with responsibility for the EE British Academy Film Awards and will be supported by Awards Officer Bradley Down.

Amanda Berry OBE, Chief Executive of BAFTA, said: “The Director of Awards role is a key one for BAFTA. Emma will ensure the Awards continue to be delivered to the very highest standard, maximising the impact of the Awards on our ever growing international audiences whilst helping to identify new business and revenue opportunities. This appointment will allow me to move away from day-to-day management of the Awards and broaden my remit across the organisation.”
