New York has a new British Consul
We have a new Consul General here, Danny Lopez. He comes to us from London and has worked in both the public and the private sectors there. His mandate is to promote US trade with and investment in the UK and to strengthen the essential relationship between the UK and US in the New York consular area (NY, NJ, PA and Fairfield County, CT).
Danny is on the Board of UK Trade & Investment, the foreign commercial arm of the UK Government, and leads its operations across the USA.
Danny will be an Honorary Trustee of BAFTA New York.
We are delighted to welcome Danny and his fiancée, Susan Grieve, to New York, and we look forward to welcoming him to our screenings and events in the near future. Danny is a huge film fan - he liked The King’s Speech so much that he went to see it twice in a week! Not surprisingly, many of the films in his all-time favourites list have strong UK and NY connections: Hannah and her Sisters, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Matrix, The Sting, Pulp Fiction, Chaplin, The Godfather, Casino Royale, The Shawshank Redemption and Love Actually. And his must-see TV shows include The Office, Only Fools and Horses, and Mad Men.
