Susan Werbe, Board of Directors

Susan Werbe is Senior Executive Producer, Programming for History®. Since joining the network in 1997 as the Director of Historical Programming, Susan has played a key role in the development and supervision of numerous series and specials. She is Executive Producer of the top-ten series American Pickers, which is now in its 4th season and averages 5 million total viewers. She is also Executive Producer of Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, Cajun Pawn Stars and the new hit competition series Picked Off. Susan is in production with British company Impossible Pictures, on a WWI miniseries for the 100th anniversary in July 1914. And an 8-hour miniseries on US Presidential power to air in 2013. She was also the Executive Producer of two of the network’s highest-rated specials: Life After People and 102 Minutes That Changed America.
Susan has been involved in most of History's co-productions with the UK. She has worked with the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, and ITV and independent British production companies such as Wall to Wall, Impossible Pictures, Pioneer, Blink, October Films, Dangerous Films, Darlow-Smithson, and Lion Television. British-produced programs include: How the Earth Was Made, Ancients Behaving Badly, The Crusades, Voices from Inside the Towers, and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
She has received two Primetime Emmy Awards: 2008-2009 Outstanding Non-Fiction Special for 102 Minutes That Changed America and 2005-2006 Outstanding Non-Fiction Series for 10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America. She also won a Peabody Award in 2005 for Voices of Civil Right. She was Executive Producer of Moonshot, a co-production with Dangerous Films that was nominated for a 2010 Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Made-for-Television Movie category.
Prior to joining History, Susan worked at CBS Eye on People where she was Senior Producer for I Remember with Charles Kuralt. She began her television career at CBS News working on CBS Reports and was a producer on Eye to Eye with Connie Chung, Walter Cronkite’s Universe, CBS Magazine and CBS Morning News. She was a Vice President at Whittle Communications. From 1984-1991, she ran her own company, specializing in fund-raising and educational videotapes for not-for-profit clients. She also wrote, produced and directed two documentaries for PBS.
Susan is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. She is married and has two sons.
