BAFTA Los Angeles Over 40s 3-1 Israeli Soccer Club

Alessandro Nivola set up two first-half goals and scored a third as BAFTA continued its league dominance over rival ISC. The Fightin' Forties dominated from the opening kick, piling up the early chances before Nivola set up Julian Stone for a trademark shoulder-dip, right-footed blast inside the far post. Minutes later Nivola collected Marc Ambrose's long pass and teed up Dan Sapienza for a rasping shot that beat the able ISC keeper. Shortly before halftime a Stone corner fell to Nivola outside the box and his cool, poised finish made it 3-0. It could have been more as Ivan Sokolov's well-met volley off a fe...ed from Stu Pollok drew a strong save and Chip Diggins blazed over the bar off a deft set-up from Stone. BAFTA almost threw ISC a lifeline seconds before the half as a miscommunication in the back led to two point-blank chances. But Ambrose saved the first shot off the line and Pollok miraculously blocked the follow-up to keep the clean sheet. A turnover in midfield, a whiff at the back and a pulled groin conspired to land ISC on the score sheet, but Brandon L'Herault's confident parry of a dipping free kick kept the margin at two and the BAFTA back line stiffened the rest of the way.
