The capturing of BAFTA’s events and awards ceremonies on film is a key part of how the Academy delivers its charitable remit and engages with audiences. Our in-house production department has a demanding year-round schedule capturing our key events and additional content around the BAFTA Awards ceremonies and the majority of the editing is performed on our in-house edit suite. We now have a vacancy for a full-time In-house Editor to join our production team and to manage the year-round edit schedule.

Key responsibilities

Provide full edit management for in-house Avid edit suite – tasks to include digitising and transcoding various shooting formats into Avid and FCP (HD and SD), conforms, playouts, transfers, offline and online editing, dubs, technical maintenance and media management of edit suite, creating deliverables for both archive and the web team.

Annual production output includes:

Non-broadcast Awards (Children’s, Video Games and Craft)
• Promo videos for the web site
• VT packages for each category – approx 20
• On site fast turnaround editing of red carpet and backstage winners interviews
• Post production supervision on the awards night

Broadcast Awards (Film and Television)
• Promo videos for the web site
• Additional content editing post awards – red carpet and backstage winner interviews
• Post production supervision on the awards night

Learning and Events Webcasts
• Event clip reels and edit montages
• Highlights packages
• Full programme edits
• Virals and partnership content
• Edit promotional material from the BAFTA archive
• Library music selection, providing relevant information for music cue sheets
• Tape logging and clip timing information for our clearance consultant

Skills and abilities

• 3 years’ experience desirable
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good time management skills
• Maintaining high editorial standards
• Comfortable working collaboratively with a range of directors/event producers
• Good knowledge of compliance regulations
• This role requires someone who is a great team player but who has the initiative to work on their own and is keen and enthusiastic to be involved in the growth of the Production Department of this prestigious organisation
