Rate: £125 per day

Duration: April to October 2013

Dates: TBC expected: 5 days consultation in April, 5 days consultation in June, full time from end August to beginning of October, end date mid-October.


Job Description

BAFTA is looking for a dynamic, experienced creative event producer with strong communication and project management skills to deliver an innovative new talent initiative.

With skills and experience across event production, new talent development and project management, the Project Producer will have a passion for Film, TV and Games coupled with the confidence, knowledge and organisational skills to work closely with senior management and supervise a project researcher.

We are looking for someone who can make an impact: if you have good contacts in the creative screen industries, excellent relationship building skills and the attitude and tenacity to be a campaigning force for new talent, this could be the job for you. As well as working with the Exec Producer to put together and manage a high profile new talent committee, you will organise a day-long series of events for new talent, work closely with a PR team to maximise exposure and produce marketing material promoting identified new talent to the industry.


Key Responsibilities

Project management of the New Talent Project to include

  • Identify, approach and oversee the Committee. Manage the Committee with a view to them selecting key British talent according to selection criteria and in line with project aims
  • Pre-production and delivery of a day of events at BAFTA headquarters dedicated to enhancing the careers of identified new talent. Production elements to include: talent liaison, travel and accommodation, clips packages, event promotion, filming, photography
  • Work with PR company, BAFTA Communications dept. and Exec Producer on press and marketing strategy using traditional and social media, and ensure deliverables are achieved and reported on
  • Oversee BAFTA’s new talent database
  • Work with BAFTA designer to put together a showcase publication for identified new talent and researcher to identify who the publication should go to
  • Work with BAFTA Partnerships to manage Stakeholder relations to maximise collaboration opportunities. Share key milestones and successes and maximise stakeholder press opportunities across the project
  • Manage Budget, raising relevant PO’s and seeking sign off from Exec Producer
  • Plan and implement a legacy strategy ensuring that identified talent is supported through the next year of their career and given an outlet to report their successes
  • Work with BAFTA Productions to film and edit appropriate elements of the project, producing videos for the web that will inspire the next generation of screen talent
  • Provide detailed debrief of activity post-event

Person Specification

An enthusiastic graduate (or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ experience of events production and project management. Knowledge of the Film/TV/Games sectors is essential. Knowledge and/or experience of creating or working on new talent initiatives and working with committees to achieve defined outcomes would be an advantage.

Experience and skills:

1. Experience of running complex events with multiple elements and numerous stakeholders to a very high standard
2. Experience of working on high profile events, maximising on their profile and reach (including traditional and social media)
3. Good knowledge of and contacts within the film, TV and games sectors in the UK and an understanding of the challenges faced by new talent
4. Experience of filming projects, from planning to editing content and tailoring the content to web
5. Experience of creatively and collaboratively working with others and leading small teams to successful outcomes
6. Experience of managing budgets across the life of the project and providing budget reports.
