A versatile performer, Waring's best known work tended to be on television, and included Z Cars (1973) and the sitcoms Moody & Pegg (1974-75) and George & Mildred (1977). His output was as varied as it was prodigious, including many stage appearances, occasionally opposite his wife, the late Dorothy Tutin.
