David Vine

An amiable and unflappable broadcaster, Vine moved into television from print journalism. He hosted sports entertainment programmes such as A Question of Sport (1970-79) and Superstars (1976), while also anchoring coverage of Ski Sunday (1977-97), Grandstand, showjumping, tennis at Wimbledon and the BBC’s World Snooker coverage, until retirement in 2000.
