Italian born Valli brought a coolly exotic quality to films such as Hitchcock's The Paradine Case (1949), and playing Harry Lime's disillusioned lover in The Third Man (1949). Other movies, amongst the 100 or so she made, include Les Yeux sans visage (1959), Novacento (1976) and The Cassandra Crossing (1977).
