A leading BBC lighting director, Treays’ career ran the gamut from Doctor Who (1963-64) to sitcoms, Abigail’s Party (1977) to classics. He won a BAFTA for Macbeth (1977) and was nominated a further three times for The Taming of the Shrew (1980), Cyrano de Bergerac (1985) and The Nativity (1985).
