Active in television from 1950s, Stuart made the JFK documentary Four Days In November (1964), but will best be remembered for directing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971), along with such other features as If It’s Tuesday This Must Be Belgium (1969) and One Is A Lonely Number (1972).
