A prolific writer during the Golden Age of American television, Stern wrote for The Jackie Gleason Show (1953-56) and Gleason’s hugely popular sitcom The Honeymooners (1955-56). He helped create other programmes including I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster (1962-63), Run Buddy Run (1966) and the police drama series McMillan & Wife (1971-77).
