Alan Sillitoe

4 March 1928 - 25 April 2010

Novelist, Screenwriter

A British novelist who won acclaim for Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, Sillitoe wrote the screenplay for the 1960 film version. He also adapted his story The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962) for the screen, with novels from his films including Counterpoint (1967) and The Ragman’s Daughter (1972).
