Mel Shavelson

A former gag writer for Bob Hope, Shavelson graduated to screenwriting and then directing the comic in the films The Seven Little Foys (1955) and Beau James (1957). His other directorial credits include The Five Pennies (1959), Houseboat (1959), Cast A Giant Shadow (1966) and Yours, Mine And Ours (1968).
