At his happiest on the stage, Scofield found success in television classics such as the BBC’s Martin Chuzzlewit (1985). His work in film reached the widest audience, however, most notably A Man For All Seasons (1966) with other roles in Henry V (1989), Quiz Show (1995) and The Crucible (1996).
