A musician whose life was marked by a violently abusive upbringing, Schleinstein came to cinematic prominence in Werner Herzog’s film The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser (1974) under the name Bruno S. He reunited with the director on Stroszek (1977) having previously been subject of the documentary Bruno The Black (1970).
