A neo-realist director who enjoyed critical and commercial success, Risi’s best known film is perhaps Profumo Di Donna (1974), remade in America as Scent Of A Woman. Other hits include A Porte Chiuse (1960), Il Sorpasso (1962), I Mostri (1963), Il Tigre (1967) and Il Nome Del Popolo Italiano (1972).
