An Italian special effects master who made his name with a diverse array of exotic creations, Rambaldi achieved wider fame with Dino De Laurentiis’s King Kong (1976), later working on Close Encounters of The Third Kind (1977), Alien (1979) and most memorably helping bring to life Steven Spielberg’s E.T. (1982).
